Poland, Day 3: Kraków Above and Below Ground
We took a walking tour of Kraków: the main square, the Cloth Hall, the Barbican, St. Mary’s and St. Barbara’s churches, the old town hall tower, Collegium Maius, and Wawel. The tower is apparently leaning about 50 centimeters off vertical. The square is huge; our guide traced it to the meeting of two trading routes.
I found duck pierogi; Ksenia found blueberries. Then we went underground at the Wieliczka Salt Mine.
Dinner at Pod Nosem—“under the nose”—was beef tartare and duck with foie gras for me. Ksenia had foie gras with strawberries and filet mignon with foie gras, plus strawberries in yogurt mousse.
