Poland, Day 2: Auschwitz and Birkenau
Breakfast with Tomek, then a tour of Auschwitz and Birkenau. It poured rain, then turned into an unsettlingly nice day.
The tour was an interesting complement to the Dachau tour we took last year. At Dachau we talked more about camp politics and the prisoners’ day-to-day experience. Auschwitz focused more on the executions and the morality of both the SS and the prisoners. Not an easy day.
