We woke up to wolf howling, then drove to Gardiner. The drive prompted a few observations:
“Is the speed limit really 80?”
“It’s so pretty.” This was code for “Josh, take a picture.”
“I can see why it’s called Big Sky.”
Lunch was at Iron Horse Bar & Grill. I had a pulled pork sandwich. The food was so-so, but the view and patio were nice. It was too hot to sit outside, though.
Then: Yellowstone! The guy at the entrance was from Flushing.
We walked up to the top of Mammoth Hot Springs, stopped at Roaring Mountain, and saw Obsidian Cliff and the Roosevelt Arch. Roaring Mountain offered two gas vents and no roars.
Dinner at Antler Pub & Grill was a chicken sandwich. It was OK. We checked into Yellowstone Village Inn & Suites, packed for our wolf guide in the morning, and went to bed early.
One more sticker brought my running total to 15. No new T-shirts today.
