In which we shall Frolic w/ Wolves + Bears
(Oh, My!)
Our trip began with a 3:30 AM alarm.
We were out the door by 4:45, flew through Minneapolis–Saint Paul, and landed in Bozeman. We picked up our rental, a Jeep Compass, then headed to Target for the supplies we’d ordered ahead. Somewhere along the way I lost my sunglasses, so another shopping stop supplied replacements and a Leatherman.
Dinner was Five Guys. Then we checked into Howlers Inn, a bed-and-breakfast that is also a wolf sanctuary. Five wolves on day one seemed like a pretty good start.
After plenty of wolf watching, we went to bed tuckered out. The trip’s sticker collection was already underway: two acquired, two total.
Tally note: A zero means we didn’t see any of that animal that day. The totals include sanctuary animals and some repeat sightings; they aren’t counts of unique wild animals.
