Scotland, Day 6: Parody, Spies, and Earnest?

comments edit

A quick stop at the post office, then another day of the Fringe.

First up was A Parody of the Rings, at Gilded Balloon Patter House. It was a funny, “impromptu” retelling of the three movies. Most of The Two Towers and The Return of the King got skipped for time.

Then Earnest?. The premise: the actor playing Earnest in The Importance of Being Earnest doesn’t show up, so the company grabs a “volunteer” from the audience to fill in. Hilarity ensues. Likely the best show we’ve seen here.

We followed that with A Covert Affair, about two spies in Budapest.

Part of our August 2025 Scotland trip. Trip summary.
