London 2015, Day 3: Galleries, Archives, and Vietnamese Food

comments edit

We watched a stranger use a giant touch screen in the National Gallery and went across Trafalgar Square to St Martin-in-the-Fields. I spent some time looking through bookshops on Charing Cross Road, and lunch at Princi was meat lasagna. It wasn’t as good as I remembered, though still good. Ksenia and I split a strawberry dessert; I had to stay alert to get my share of the strawberry. We’d eaten there with her cousin on a previous London visit.

The Polish Institute and Sikorski Museum was wonderful: three floors, a personal tour, and Polish government memorabilia, including a commission signed by Napoleon in 1812 and Sikorski’s desk. The visit to Benjamin Franklin House was a walking play through the house. Basic information, but worth going.

Around the corner, MOC Kitchen served a delicious Vietnamese bánh mì with braised pork. We also went to Waterstones, where I noted Andrew Smith and Michael Grant.
